Things to Consider Before Buying a Jiu Jitsu Gear Bag

Before you go to the store to buy your bag, you should figure out what you want it to do. There are a few things you need to consider before you buy a jiu jitsu gear bag.

The first thing you should think about is how large of a bag you need.

The next thing you should think about is how many pockets you need, and if you need a bag that folds up.

The third thing to consider is whether or not you need a bag that has a shoulder strap.

Features and Benefits of the Tatami jiu jitsu fightwear gear bag

What I really like about the Tatami jiu jitsu fightwear gear bag is that it’s large enough to fit all my items on a day that I’m away from home for a long time.  I can fit my fitness equipment,  work stuff and jiu-jitsu Gear in it at the same time.

I also really like to bring it to competition because I can easily fit two gis, my no gi jiu jitsu gear and food in it. I also like to keep my food, water and mouthguard separated in the multiple compartments.

I also like that it’s both a duffle bag and a backpack at once because of the broad shoulder strap.

One last thing that I like is that it’s ‘on brand’ with my other BJJ gear. I own the Tatami nova gi and I always like pulling that gi out of this Tatami bag when I go to training.

My experience with the tatami jiu jitsu gear bag

To give some context to my review, I’ll tell you how I use this bag:

  • I put the following training equipment in the main compartment of this gym bag: BJJ gi, rash guard, belt, shorts, and spats. (If I go to a tournament I bring an extra gi jacket and pants.)
  • I put my mouthguard in a separate compartment, just like my water.
  • I use the bag as a backpack while I drive my bike to the gym
  • During training I put the bag next to the mat area
  • If I’m doing kick boxing or mixed martial arts than Brazilian jiu jitsu, I can fit in additional training gear, such as gloves and shin pads.

So all in all this is a great bag and I definitely recommend buying it.
